Get Involved

The fact that you are here on the Nevada Climate Office website is proof that you are interested in weather and climate in the Silver State and might just want to join us!

The Nevada Climate Office is much more than the team members working in the Geography Department on the campus of the University of Nevada, Reno.  It is a team of volunteers, observers, hobbyists, researchers, and students from all over the Silver State.  These are the people that make it possible to gather the information and tell the story of Nevada climate.  Just reading this means that you might want to join us, and share our passion for watching the ever-changing Nevada sky.

So, how do you get involved?  It is as easy as grabbing a phone, grabbing a camera, mailing a letter, or typing on a keyboard.  Your input and information is always welcome!  To get involved, you could…

  1. Become a Nevada Climate Office observer, documenting weather data and observations daily and reporting climate data for your local area.
  2. Follow us on Twitter for up-to-date weather information and commentary about weather and climate in your area.
  3. Join the Nevada Weather Photos Group on flickr and share your weather pictures.
  4. Use email to send in weather/climate observations and reports, as well as pictures and larger files (including video).
  5. Give us a call to report on weather and climate in your area.
  6. Mail us weather/climate observations, photos, comments, or other information.

We want to hear from you, so start looking up and reporting what you see.  Remember, you are the “Nevada” in Nevada Climate Office!
